Friday's Thoughts

Here is my brain dump for the day:
  • I am loving the 30 day blog challenge. Except I haven't done day 8 which is about friends. I'm working on it but I feel like I have a lot to say because I'd really like to include by blog friends too. (Meaning my real life blog friends like this chick who I met for coffee yesterday and this chick who I met for coffee today!) I've formed such a bond with lots of these local blogging ladies and I'd really like to share that!

  • JD and I went on a "date" last weekend. We made reservations, got "dressed up" (whatever that means these days...) but you know what we didn't do? Get a sitter. Nope. We dressed Trey up (Monogrammed polo and Madras pants via SheShe Made!) and took him with us. It was awesome! It was so fun to be on a date night with my TWO favorite guys! We had a wonderful time and Trey was so well behaved. The owner of the restaurant came over to compliment us on how he acted. (p.s. No smug-mommy-ness here, we just had a lucky night!)
  • We tried out a music class this week and Trey and I both really enjoyed it. The teacher is an old friend that I made during my prenatal yoga classes. It was so wonderful to see her again and for her daughter and Trey to play together. I don't know if the class will fit into our schedule this fall (it's during his nap time and it doesn't look like that's going to work) but I'm guessing that he will be down to one nap a day by next semester so maybe we will go then. Do any of your babes do music classes? How do they like them?
  • I am officially out of chocolate Shakeology at my house besides the bag that I am using for myself. I thought with bathing suit season over everyone would be taking a break. WRONG. I literally have friends stopping by with cash or paypaling me so I can mail them order. I love it! It's really it's keeping me motivated too! Let me know if you are interested and I can give you more info!
  • I'm such a nerd. The excitement I get when the library emails me to tell me a book I have been waiting for is on hold for me is just beyond ridiculous. It's the simple things really. Oh, and I'm obsessed with Beth Harbison books right now. Love her!

  • This bread is changing my life. I whipped up some apple cider glaze to go on top, served it slightly warm - it TASTES like FALL. Promise. Now get yourself to Trader Joe's and get some!!!
  • We started the Fall session at The Little Gym this week and Trey was actually kind of shy for the first little bit of class. He was unsure of everything - the kids, other parents, the shakers and that's SO unlike him. In June I probably could have dropped him off and left and he never would have noticed! It's amazing how two months off made such a difference. I'm so glad we are back because I know he really enjoys going and learns a lot there.
  • I'm so excited that it's Friday! We have a Little Gym make up class (because they were closed on Labor Day) and a first birthday party tomorrow and maybe a beach/zoo/aquarium day Sunday? I'm certain we will find something fun to do! I also want to work on some Fall crafts like woah! I hope everyone else has an awesome weekend too!!

Day 9: TV Shows

Today for Katie's 30 day Blog Challenge we are discussing our favorite TV shows.

A lot of mine are mindless and basically trash. I'm ok with this.

Current Shows:

This is one that J.D. and I watch every Sunday night in his "man room". We make snacks, get blankets, grab some beer and wine and basiclally "crack-out" on it. We LOVE this show. We ask everyone we come into contact with if they watch it - and sadly we've only met a few that do. We are obsessed.

I mean who doesn't love the Office? I want Jim & Pam to be together in real life though...

Ahhh Modern Family. Hilarious. Really. Entertaining. I feel like we are Claire & Phil (minus the two extra kids) on a regular basis. I LOVE it. I want to steal Lilly.

I'm not sure when my Kardashian obsession began but it sure isn't healthy. I watch them all. Kourtney & Khloe take Miami? Sure! New York? Why not! Khloe & Lamar? Definitely! Confession: at my last hair appointment I told my stylist I wanted Kardashian hair when she said "what color do you want?" And yep, she knew what I meant.

Ahhhh Real Housewives. I LOVE THEM ALL. Yep, I watched D.C. I thought it sucked but I watched each and every episode. Even the stupid Miami one. I had to pick a picture of RHBH because I'm obsessed with Kyle. Again, the hair.

Oooh this is a new one for us. It's on Friday nights so I DVR it Since I have such a slammin' social life? to watch once Trey is in bed. I love seeing the new businesses and watching the "sharks" fight over them if they are good and reject them if not. It's fun times all around! Watch it!

Beloved Old Shows...

THE HILLS! LC! Heidi! Audrina! Whitney! Yes, I used to have "Hills parties" at my house every week. And I may or may not have kept my "Team LC" shirt that I made for them when I was cleaning out my closet.

I love Jessica Simpson, so much so I busted these DVD's out of the vault the other day for a little marathon!

And last but not least by any means ~ Sex and the City. I am a Charlotte-wannabe-with-Carrie's-Shoes-puh-lease.

Please note: this is NOT on the movie list. And that is not a mix up. My die hard SATC fans know what's up.

I hope y'all have enjoyed this! I have been taking a break from a lot of TV watching lately in favor of some chick-lit-reads but I am excited for new fall shows! And the premiere of Up All Night. That ish looks HILARIOUS!

Don't forget - it's not too late if you want to join in! Just Go visit Katie's Blog!

Day 7: Favorite Vacation

Today on the blog challenge we are sharing our favorite vacations!

This was a hard one for me, because I feel like these mini-vacations we have been on with Trey are my "new favorite" because they are so much more meaningful. But I think I need to break out the honeymoon pics! (And yes, our last Disney trip is a close second - y'all know I love the mouse!)

We honeymooned in Acapulco, Mexico in 2006 and stayed at the Fairmont Acapulco Princess Resort. It's a beautiful place with lots of pools, restaurants, beautiful beaches. We stayed for 8 days and really just enjoyed doing a lot of nothing. You know it's a good day when your biggest stress is what drink to order on the swim-up bar at noon!

And remember if you'd like to join in the fun it's not too late. Go visit Katie's Blog!

2 on Tuesday: Fall

Whoop Whoop!! I am SO excited that my dear friend, Andrea over at My Chihuahua Bites is taking over 2 on Tuesday! Head on over to her blog and link up!

My two favorite things about Fall are:

1. PUMPKIN EVERYTHING.

I lurve some Starbucks pumpkin scones, and while they aren't quite on my diet plan, I may indugle in one or two this season!

2. Fall Clothes!

I love nothing more than a great pair of comfy leggings and a cute, but cozy sweater. I see lots of ponchos on the horizon for this year.

I'm also equally as excited about dressing Trey up in things like this hat that I ordered a few weeks ago. It is so precious on!!!!

What are your Top 2 for Fall?

Day 5: A Picture That Makes You Happy

Day 5: A Picture That Makes You Happy

Well, I couldn't pick just one so I picked 3 of my favorites to share today!

Day 4: Family

Today's blog challenge post is all about Family.

I'll start with a picture of our little family of three from last Christmas. J.D. and I eventually would love to have another baby but I will say now, that is not in the plans for at least a few years! Trey is our everything and we are really enjoying just being the three of us.

This is J.D.'s little sister you will often here me refer to her as "my sister". She was 7 when J.D. and I first started dating and I have watcher her grow into such a smart and loving woman. (Agh that feels so weird to write - I feel like just yesterday I was buying her barbie dolls!) It also helps that we look similar (except I WISH I was that tall and skinny!) and love the same things. She is the worlds best aunt to Trey and while she attends college a few hours a way we are still very close and skype frequently with Trey. He thinks the world of her. She and I share a closeness that I have never known before, we are best friends and each others biggest supporters. We bicker and fight some times and while at the time I may be annoyed I sometimes secretly think "cool, so this is what it's like to have a sister!".

J.D. also has a little brother who is 17, he's too cool for pictures, and whatever else we are doing so clearly that's why he isn't pictured here. But I will say he is shaping up to be a great uncle to Trey and really does love him!

I am also very lucky though to have J.D.'s father (not pictured - couldn't find any good recent ones) who has always really made me feel loved and appreciated. I know that I can turn to him with anything big or small and that he thinks the WORLD of Trey!

This is an old Thanksgiving picture of myself with J.D.'s mom and Grandmother. Unfortunately his grandmother passed away right before Trey was born. She was such a huge part of our family and we all miss her dearly. J.D.'s mom and I have an AMAZING relationship. I have always been able to turn to her for help and advice. She is an awesome grandmother to Trey and he loves having "date nights with Nana"!

And the last picture that I am sharing is of my Mom and I. She is Trey's Grammie and is a wonderful person who has been dealt a tough hand of cards. Without going into a lot of detail right now, I'll share that she has a condition called neuropathy (not caused by diabetes, sadly cause is unknown) and last December we found out that my father who has always been abusive in a verbal sense (to us both, again, more on that at another time) had been physically abusive towards her for years and it was getting worse and worse. They are now in the middle of getting a divorce and I have cut all ties from my father.

My brother is also missing from this post as he was killed during my freshman year of college , he was 24. I know that him and J.D. would definitely be best friends and he would cherish Trey like no other. I miss him.

I will leave this post with this:

All of my close friends I call Trey's aunties and uncles. I call J's daughter Addie, his cousin. Because in my mind, this quote could not be more true.
