The Great Green Clean

One of my resolutions every year is to try to live a more "green" lifestyle.

I'll let you in on a little back story: this wasn't something that I was always concerned with.

It was when I became pregnant with Trey is when I knew I needed to do some research and start making smart changes around my home.

I knew if he was going to be wearing something washed in it, inhaling it, licking it, sitting or playing on it - "it" needed to be "green".

One of the first "green" products I tried was a Clorox GreenWorks countertop spray! I vowed to never let myself turn into a "Green Housewife" and act "Greener than Thou"like the ladies in this hilarious video!

Going green doesn't have to be difficult - it can actually be really fun. Instead of throwing out all of my non-green products I just waited for them to be used up and as I needed to shop for more I would replace them with a more "green" version! It was easy, I didn't feel like I was throwing away everything that I had and starting from scratch!

And every little bit helps. Do you need to buy everything organic? Absolutely not! Start with your milk and the "dirty dozen" and go from there! It's not an all or nothing!

What are your favorite "green" cleaning products? How did you make the switch? How do you live a more "green" lifestyle?

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective, and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

I love this. I completely agree that with anything it doesn't have to be all or nothing. I used to be too far on the organic side of things and it's just too expensive. I have finally found a good balance just like you said, Organic Milk and dirty dozen as much as possible. Some great advice in this post girl!

I love that you said it doesn't have to be all or nothing. We've done the same thing where as we finish using one product, we'll replace it with something more natural. I'm still searching for a product to bathe Addie in that has a pleasant smell. I wasn't a huge fan of the scent of the BabyGanics lavender wash. Any suggestions?

I agree with the fact that it doesn't have to be "all or nothing at all." I also am always looking for ways to live a more "green" life. I use vinegar, baking soda and other household items to make home cleansers. And when I can't get around to cleaning my home I have a green cleaning service help me.

The biggest change we made was when my boyfriend moved in. He's much more environmentally sound than I ever was. He told me, "No more paper towels!" I thought he was certifiably crazy, but I agreed to try things his way.

Turns out I rarely ever need a paper towel or napkin at all anymore! We have a stack of kitchen towels that we use for cleanup, napkins, etc. I find we spend less money on laundry than we did on buying paper towels, which is great. Plus, we're helping the environment!

Vinegar is a great natural cleaner! :) we use it as fabric softener, to mop floors, and to clean counters!

Another vote for vinegar as well. Does a good job at many tasks.
