{Almost} Wordless Wednesday

Last Thursday was J.D.'s 30th Birthday (Happy Birthday Baby!!!!) and I decided to make Trey a fun shirt for when he came home from work!

Trey waits here everyday for J.D. to come home from work. He FREAKS out when he sees his car pull in the driveway. Watching it makes he heart melt every single time!!

And I will leave you with these ~ exactly one year prior in a onesie that I had made for J.D.'s first birthday as a father!

Ten on Tuesday

I'm linking up with the fabulous Roots and Rings for another edition of Ten on Tuesday!

1. What is your favorite brand of shoes?

I love any flip flop. My favorites right now are some recent buys - I seem to wear my Rainbows the most for everyday and my silver strappy Lilly McKims for when I'm trying to look "decent"!

2. How old were you when you learned to tie your shoes?
Oh, um, shoot. Should I know this?

3. How do you feel about freckles?
I think they are adorable! I don't have any but I always think that they are so cute on other people. This may be a grass is greener type thing?

4. I can count to ten in ___ languages.
Two. English and Spanish.

5. What is your favorite store-bought ice cream flavor?
Mayfield Party Cake Ice Cream. It has frosting in it. Need I say more?

6. Were you in ballet or gymnastics as a little girl?
I did gymnastics and I loved it! I still love watching it on TV for hours on end!

7. Who is your favorite Sesame Street character?
Psssh. We don't even let Trey watch TV shows yet but I will pull up songs on You Tube sometimes and we dance around and sing. You know I'm going to say Elmo. Homeboy is baby crack.

8. What’s your bedtime?
I'm so bad, I stay up until around Midnight every single night. It's 11:36 right now and I have done absolutely nothing to prepare for tomorrow.

9. Do you have any jewelry that you wear every single day?
I wear my wedding band and engagement ring everyday. I have also gotten in the habit of wearing my two pandora bracelets and an old Tiffany bracelet almost every single day. They make me smile every time I look at them.

10. Who is the bug killer in your household?

Definitely not me. I'm sure no one is surprised at that! Ha!

Evacu-cation?

So, last week with the imposing threat of (the) hurricane that wasn't Irene the hubs and I packed up and headed to Richmond for a mini vacay. Well, sort of. It was a vacay for Trey and I and three solid days of studying and taking the hubs' last CPA exam. WOO HOO.

(Assuming he passed. Which we ALL pray that he did.)

Let's recap the evacu-cation, shall we?

Friday ~

9:30am: Pretend like you don't need to be home packing, cleaning, doing laundry and washing dishes to get on the road with a 1 year old. Hang out at Starbucks with this silly guy.

10:30am: Get home to put said silly guy down for a nap and start thinking "sh*t, sh*t, sh*t I have SO much to do!!"

12pm: Pack up every monogrammed LLBean/Lands End tote you own (some not pictured...) to the brim, as well as like 5 Whitney Caroline Designs bags. Try your darndest to keep your 1 year old out of those bags. DO NOT FORGET TREY'S MON-CHI-CHI (that already worn out looking sock monkey you see here that Trey mangles in his sleep). Or the twilight turtle... or anything else he might decide he NEEDS. As in, is going to freak the heck out if he doesn't have it NOW.

So yes, basically I packed everything we Trey owns. You never know when a tantrum may be around the corner. I need reinforcements.

12:30: Get gas (which takes forever, you would think armagedon was happening) and finally get on the road.

And then do this until about 5pm.

Yes. This trip usually takes less than 2 hours. And yes, we are screwed if an actual disaster heads our way y'all. Screwed.

Lots of book reading from the front seat, singing, and finally the Elmo Song, Elmo had Three Ducks, etc. over and over. And we were to our destination. A hotel attached to a mall. What could be better?

Thank goodness for Birthday gifts that I was "saving" for a "rainy" day.

9pm: Luckily for us, Trey went down super easy and I spent the night with these two friends. Ahhh candy and books. I have missed you both so badly!!! (Everyone needs a treat now and then!)

Saturday ~

Ha! Easy peasy.

The hubs studied his butt off. Literally like ALL DAY.

And Trey and I rode his bike ALL around the hotel. Over and over and over and over and over...

Stupid rain.

Sunday ~

Gorgeous morning! Coffee, milk and some play-time out by the pool!

Trey took an awesome nap and then we headed over to Whole Foods for lunch and the Children's Museum of Richmond for some fun!

They have an AMAZING Children's Museum there. We played with bubbles, made da-da a good luck sign in the art center, rode a huge train around, went to storytime, played in water, played with lots of other babies, went down slides! I don't know who had more fun Trey or myself!

Afterwards we came back to the hotel and Trey slept like a champ! Can someone explain to me how my already great sleeper of a baby sleeps EVEN better (I didn't know that was possible...) when we are traveling? So strange!!!) We finally had to wake him up to go out to dinner!

Monday ~

The hubs was off to take his test! He's awesome so I'm sure he rocked it!!!

Trey and I hit up the mall and got a lot of Fall shopping done! Only a few things left and I think Trey is 100% done. Sadly Mama is another story!!

After his nap we met back up with JD and went shopping in Carytown and met up with some long-time friends for a fun lunch outside.

And then we drove back - with a MUCH faster time. And approximately 1,204 less meltdowns.

Phew. I'm tired just thinking about it all!

I'm so thankful that I was able to come home to a house with power and no damage from the storm as I realize a lot of you are dealing with flooding, power outages (with babies! AHHH!), and damage to your homes. I hope that it's all on the mend asap!!

Now that life is slowly returning to "whatever normal is" I hope to be back to blogging, tweeting and snail mailing. None of which I have done too well or consistently over the past few months!!

Saturday Morning Scene

I'm linking up with Katie this Saturday morning to share my Saturday Morning Scene. Head over and check out what everyone else is up to and share yours!!!

Saturday Morning Scene

I'm spending this morning with my little drumming pirate while Daddy is off studying. He got this B. Parum Pum Pum Drum for his birthday and is obsessed with it. Well most of it, I think he's scared of the "A" that came with it!

Of course we had to get some story time in. Someone *ahem* is VERY demanding when it comes to books these days. Check out that face.

We both slept in a little late this morning (9am for Mama and 9:30 for T-bug!) because we stayed out late last night. We went to an outdoor showing of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the original) and had a blast!

Trey is definitely too little to "watch" the movie but we had such a blast enjoying a picnic dinner, playing, rolling around and just being a family. Plus the wagon was involved and that is always a win for this kid!

He wasn't so sure of the Oompa Loompa's singing. And I mean, really, who can blame him?

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday! We are off to a friend's house so Trey can play with their two little girls and get in some fresh air and fun!

Random Thoughts

I have a ton of just random things I have wanted to blog about, remember or share and realized I needed to get them all out before my head explodes.

  • Still haven't finished the "details" post of Trey's party, I hadn't realized just how much stuff I wanted to include!
  • My Erin Condren planner isn't here yet and I am super bummed because I wanted to link up with everyone else today. Hopefully it'll be here soon!
  • My dear friend M (hi M!!!) and I call Fall the "f" word. We are both beach girls through and through but for some reason lately I am finding myself craving things like PSL at Sbux, pumpkin muffins, riding boots, hoodies for Trey, etc. She said I should get myself to the beach for an intervention. I think she's right!
  • The best money we have spent this summer is on our aquarium membership. Trey is obsessed with that place and we have already gone at least 5 or 6 times! We went today and Trey was in awe with this HUGE sea turtle that was bigger than him! It kept swimming up to him and looking at him (through the glass).
  • We have been bottle free since last Thursday. I am so sad to pack away all of his bottles and make room for even more sippy cups than we already own! I also have to say I am loving our milk delivery service (J gets it too - she's the one that got me hooked) it's so easy to know I don't have to run out and get him milk and that it's super-duper fresh too. (Their banana bread is slightly addicting as well!)
  • I went to see The Help tonight and I know that everyone has been raving about how good it is but I'll be honest. A. I didn't think I'd LOVE it B. I wanted to read the book first. Well I am still chugging through a library book I got a few weeks ago so I haven't read it and I'll be honest - I DID LOVE it. LOVED it. I plan on reading the book next! If you haven't go see it you must. Life changing really.
  • I'm still loving Shakeology and still have some samples that I need to send out. (I haven't been to the post office in FOREVER!) I plan on getting them done this week. I have SO many clothes that fit now it's amazing. I never thought I'd be this size again! I spent hours Sunday organizing my closet and packing all of my larger sizes away. I'm not 100% done yet but it feels so good! (I still have a ways to go weight-wise but I'm so much happier these days!)
  • We went to a bounce house birthday party on Saturday. Want to talk about a workout? My calves are still burning! The hubs wasn't able to go (he totally missed out but had to study) so we will have to take Trey back soon. He thought it was the coolest thing. He was so unsure of the slides at first (a neighbor sent him down with me waiting at the bottom) but then started smiling and clapping. The jumpy things were his favorite... mine too.. shocker.
  • Trey has really gotten into sharing recently and I am loving it. He puts cheerios in my mouth, toys in my hand, tries to share his sippy with me. It's just the cutest thing and makes me fall even more in love with my sweet baby. These past few weeks have made me super emotional with his walking, party, trying new things, etc. I'm trying my best to savor every single precious moment!
See? I know. Random thoughts. We all have them right? And sometimes it's just good to get them out!

Trey's 1st Birthday Party Recap: Part One

This past Saturday we celebrated Trey's first birthday with a red, white and aqua themed "crabby" party! It was a perfect day that we shared with all of our friends and family. It went by in the blink of an eye, a whirlwind that I can only equate to the way I felt on our wedding day. At one point the hubs, Trey and I snuck away into a bedroom and just had an "us" moment where we hugged, kissed and smiled. It was absolute bliss.

I'll do this post in two parts - today will be an overall view of the day and tomorrow I will do a details post with info on where I purchased things or how I made them.

The party was held at my Uncle-in-law's home
