Baby Shower Recap

I have been meaning to share with you all some pictures from the baby shower I had a few weeks ago. My best friends and my mom-in-law hosted it for me and we all had a great time! Our sweet little bean received so many amazing gifts.
The same day as the shower some good friends of ours had their wedding. And while I wasn't able to make it to the ceremony (DH went alone) I definitely wanted to attend the reception. So as soon as the shower was over I had friends take the gifts to my house and I hopped on the freeway and headed down to the oceanfront for the reception. It was such a gorgeous wedding and even though I did have to leave early (I was just TOO exhausted) I was glad I went.
When I returned home to all of the wonderful gifts everywhere I broke down and had a good 'ol cry sesh... gotta love those pregnancy hormones!!

One of my BFF's who is due with a little girl about 8 weeks after us! We are so excited for them! Arranges marriages aren't completely illegal right......?

Too of my awesome besties!

A fun diaper wreath that one of my neighbors made me!

For my little beach bum from one of my friends who shares the same admiration for the sun and sand as I do!

Cute favors that my friend, H made! Cinnamon buns! YUM!

Love these ladies!

Loved, loved, loved his monogrammed cake! And now that his monogram is out for all to see I'll let you know we will be calling him Trey! He is a third - and we just loved Trey for his nickname!

I'm so blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life that just love our little guy SO much!!

33 Week Baby Bump Update

This is from my shower on Saturday - My sister is on the right and her BFF, H is on the left! I love these girls SO much!!

As of Saturday, the day of my shower, I was exactly 33 weeks. So as of today I'm 33 weeks and 5 days. I cannot believe how fast time is flying by!!

Total Weight Gained?: 29 lbs - it hasn't been so hard lately because I am having a really hard time eating a normal amount at one time. My sweet little bean is taking up a lot of space these days!

Maternity Clothes: Um yep. I've actually had to go buy a few more things recently as my belly starts poking out even more!!

Stretch Marks?: Still doing great - but I am lotion-ing up twice a day religiously now!!

Sleep?: Last week I went through some pretty bad insomnia - which is apparently normal but I had a hard time dealing with it. I ended up going in for a massage and did some yoga and it seems to be helping. And yes, I understand that this is God's way of preparing me for minimal sleep once the baby is here but I'm going to try my hardest to get some sleep in while I can!!

Labor Signs: None yet, thank goodness!

Best Moment of the Week?: My shower (post to come) and attending a wedding for some dear friends of ours - we had such a fabulous time!! And finding the little bean a pediatrician - who turns out to be mine from when I was little. What a small world!!!

Movement? Yes, yes, yes, it's all of the time and I love it so much. I spend hours just laying there with my hands on my belly just talking and singing to him!

Food Craving?: I cannot get enough cupcakes, BLT's or sprite with a little bit of grape juice mixed in. YUM!

Food aversions: Lately with the heat I haven't been into anything that's too hot

Belly Button? Can you believe it - it's still in! My sister has been tormenting me by sticking her finger in it - it's driving me crazy!

What I miss? Nothing. I know that sounds crazy - even with the insomnia and everything else, I'm just so excited about him being here soon. And by soon I mean 7 weeks from now - I'm not ready for his debut yet!

What I'm looking forward to: Finishing up his nursery. I won't be posting much about it until it's 100% done - we aren't even showing our friends and family then. But I'm sure if you catch me on Twitter - you may get a few sneak peeks as to things we have bought for it.

Weekly Wisdom: Sleep when you can!

Milestones: The doctor letting us know on Monday that he's pretty safe to come at any time now. They'd like him to stay until much closer to his due date but just in case - he'd most likely be ok! :)

A Week in Pictures

Every week my sweet friend, Katie of The Adventures of Katie and Josh does an iPhone photo Friday. I love checking in to see what's going on in her world each week and thought I'd do the same this week. Turns out I totally missed Friday, then Saturday came and went and here we are Sunday night and I'm finally getting around to it!

Here's a little peek into my world as captured by my handy-dandy iPhone (how the heck did I ever live without this thing?! I've had it for a year now and I seriously feel like it's attached to me!)

The other day I walked up to my porch to find THE sweetest baby gift from Andrea of My Chihuahua Bites! She sent me so much super cute and thoughtful things, my eyes welled up with tears as I was opening everything! I just died over the super sweet diaper cover with his little name on it! And how sweet is the little pear hat? It's going to be so perfect for his newborn pictures! See the giraffe print wipes case? Yep, Andrea made that herself - so crafty and chic! Trey and I are so lucky to have friends like this - even so far away!

We went to the wedding for the hub's college roommate last Saturday. He's a dentist now so they had the cutest chocolate toothbrushes on the table! I couldn't help but snapping a pic. The best part? The chocolate was mint flavored and amazing! There is nothing worse than bad chocolate!

My sis-in-law who is home for the Summer from college (yes, she is MUCH younger than us) just got a job at my favorite frozen yogurt bar. I cannot even explain my excitement over her working there (I go... oh every 2-3 days), my new 25% off family discount and the free fro-yo she sometimes brings by my house when she gets off!

I saw this in Target the other day and thought about picking it up. Have any of y'all read this? I loved Shoe Addicts Anonymous so I'm thinking this may be fab as well!

Poor Zoe, this is a picture of her on the way to the groomers last weekend. Clearly by the look on her face she thought we were headed to the beach!

Lulu wasn't so sure about what was going on, but then again... she never is!

And on Thursday I finally received an e-mail letting me know that my iPad was ready to be picked up. I had been on the waiting list for a while and was so excited to finally get it. I'm having a blast reading blogs, shopping, and streaming Netflix directly to it. I wasn't feeling so hot on Friday and laying on the sofa and streaming Laguna Beach Season 1 (whoa... crazy right?) really made my afternoon!

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! I can't wait to catch up on everyone's posts!!

Baby Registry "Extras"

Like any new parents-to-be the hubby and I have spent hours days compiling lists, talking to friends, reading books, listening to the sales associates at various baby stores to register for exactly the right things that we will need for the little bean. We've woken up in the middle of the night stressing over the right mattress, car seat, stroller. You name it - we have probably over-analyzed it to death. That's just what we do. About everything. (But really, that's another post.)

So moving on, yes, we are very aware that many of these things we think we "need" are going to be unnecessary or he's not going to like them and we're fine with that. You have to learn somehow.

Here I'd like to share some things that I WISH new moms-to-be were able to include at the fantastic Babies-R-Us and similar type stores. You know - things we really need.

1. Pre-natal massages. Do I need to explain?

Yea, I didn't think so...

2. A cleaning service for the third trimester and once the baby is here. I may be in nesting mode but that doesn't mean I have any desire to get down on my hands and knees and scrub any corners of a bathroom floor.

Especially knowing people are going to want to just pop in after he's here - I'd like my house to be in acceptable shape.

3. Wine... for after he's here. Nothing like not drinking for 9 months to make a girl want a glass of sangria on a hot summer's day!

{Source}

4. Bi-weekly pedicures. Yes, you read that right. Every TWO weeks. For once in my life I feel like I really have a legitimate excuse to not try and make my pedicure last as long as possible. (Which is what I usually do, I'm frugal like that.) I can barely reach my feet, never mind try and paint my toes or scrape the icky stuff off of the bottom. Plus the scrub/massage combo by my lady "Sandy" rivals that of an upscale spa.

These are actually pictures from my last pedi which was sadly 2.5 weeks ago - I had borrowed Turquoise & Caicos by Essie from the super-sweet Stuttering Shell. I wasn't sure if I would like it at first and now I'm obsessed with it and hoping it finally comes in the mail today so I can go get it put on my toes again!

5. A Babymoon or things to do on our Babymoon. (Which, yes, I still need to post a re-cap of - it was fabulous!). When you get married you can register for things such as swimming with the dolphins, breakfast in bed or couples spa treatments. You should totally be able to do the same for Babymoons! It should show up on your "Babies R Us" registry right next to things like burp clothes!

Ladies wouldn't you agree? And what else am I missing? I'm sure that I'm not the only one who feels this way!!
