Starbucks: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

GOOD: Let's start this off with some exciting news from the Starbucks blog: the Mocha Coconut frappuccinno is coming back this summer!! Whoo Hooo!! I actually tweeted the Starbucks people last summer about this as it used to be my FAVORITE drink (back before I got cheap and started drinking iced coffees). If you like coconut and chocolate you must go try one of these! It's a perfect Summer afternoon treat!

BAD: Monday morning I met up with Lis and she gave Trey this adorable little guy named Lenny the Lamb! A review is coming your way soon, moms - you are going to LOVE this!! I got a refill on my way out (don't judge, remember it was a Monday). And as I'm driving along I take a sip. BLEH. I ended up with a mouth full of coffee grinds.

No bueno.

Luckily, I mentioned it to the guy this morning and he was super apologetic and gave me a venti for free! I love good customer service!

And last, but definitely not least....

UGLY: So yesterday I met up with some of "Trey's friends" (How does an 8-month old have friends?) and their Mama's. It was basically monsooning here so we all rushed to get inside of a Starbucks by The Little Gym that we go to. Here we are: 4 moms, 4 babies under a year each, soaked with diaper bags, umbrella strollers, carriers. And guess what? No where to sit! This particular Starbucks has a pretty decent sized lounge area with basically two sofa type things. I see a man there with a laptop on his lap and a lady at the sofa next to him.

Here is my convo with the lady:

Me (aka Drenched Mama): Hi, I was just wondering how long y'all were going to be here?

Lady (aka B*tch Meanie): A LONG time. He's WORKING. (And gives me a *death* look)

Me: (Eeeek) Ok, sorry to bother you - we'll go somewhere else.

Lady: Eye roll

Guy working: What did she ask?

Lady: (Makes agitated cough-sound) She asked if we were leaving. (cough-sound)

Now, for those of you that have met me, I'm pretty sure you know that I said it super nice and wasn't trying to push them out. Be honest with me, was that rude of me to ask? Could she not have said - "oh I'm so sorry - we will be here a while working"? Am I wrong? Or do I just expect too much of strangers?

Regardless.... we picked up our stuff and headed somewhere else. Where everyone was nice and we had a great afternoon! Can't let the *haters* get you down!! :)

I hope to have my April goals and Trey's 8 month pictures up soon! It's been a crazy week at the Beach Bum household!! I will also be catching up on everyones blogs tonight! I feel like I've missed so much in two days!!

I wish I liked coffee cause that drinks looks delish. Mmm, maybe I'm just craving whipped cream.

I don't think you were crazy to ask if people were leaving.. but people are crazy at Starbucks. Seriously.

Coffee gets me through the day! I haven't tried that one so I will give it a shot. I don't know why people have to be so rude...it's almost like they hate their life! Sorry they acted that way!

This summer I will be looking for that mocha coconut concoction at Starbs. It sounds good!

I'm so sorry that happened to you. Some people are so rude! I don't think you were out of line at all by asking and she certainly could have been a lot nicer in her response. What a B!

Gosh, that would've been a nasty surprise...

And to quote Stephanie Tanner, "How rude!" of that woman! Clearly she must've been having a horrible day!

I would have asked, too - you never know if they are just getting ready to leave and therefore you'd stick around and wait. Totally logical question, imo.

Ew! What a rude woman! What is wrong with people?! You didn't ask her to leave! Ugh. And why did the Starbucks dude ask what you said? I'm pretty sure you don't look like a loitering bum that was going to cause drama for the whole place. Shoot, you had already bought two drinks from them that day.

Why are people so mean? :(

Did that run-in with a SheDevil take place at OUR Starbucks in OUR corner over OUR couches?! Oh, hells no!

Seriously, people like that are redic. I would have totally scootched over or got up. People are so freakin' rude.

And, can I just say that I'm missing our coffee dates and it hasn't even been a week yet! :(

I run into grumpy people like that at the Starbucks by my house all the time. Meanies!!

That drink sounds really good though! :-)

I would have been the one to ask the woman too. Well no, I probably would have stood next to her with my baby and encouraged him to cry in her direction. But I'm clearly not as polite as you were. So screw her. Oh and thanks for the heads up about island choco coconut drink. I'd never heard of it but I will now hunt it down when it comes back.

Ugh, that lady was super rude! She could have been a bit more tact. Especially since you know, you were all soaking wet and had your kiddos with you.

I live about 25mins from 3 different Starbucks!! Yesterday, I REALLY needed one to... 'get me through the day' haha But I couldn't justify draggin my sick baby girl out just for that!

So instead I made an iced coffee (and saved a bit of money too)

I will have to try that drink you love!
