Hair Care Product Loves

For the longest time I have been meaning to do an updated hair care post (kind of like my "What's in your make-up bag?" post here). 

Forever and a day ago I posted about how my hair lust for Kyle Richards. And well, not much has changed I still want her hair, with just a smidge of the Kardashians mixed in!

Here are the products I am loving right now:

1. John Frieda - 3 Day Straight - I hardly ever try new hair products. I'm a very set-in-my-ways type person but when The Bargain Blonde was dishing about this on instagram I figured for the under $10 price tag I'd give it a whirl. And boy, am I glad I did!! I LOVE THIS STUFF. LOVE LOVE LOVE. I'm on my second bottle already. Basically it's a semi-permanent straightener for your hair. You wash, towel dry and then spray this into your hair. You then blow dry and straighten (using no other products) and voila! You can have frizz free, straight hair for up to three days, or until your next wash. I last about 2-3 days with this. My favorite part? I can put my hair in a pony and then take it out - without kinks. Sold. Love this stuff. 

2. Matrix Smootherapie Deep Smoothing Shampoo & Conditioner - I get the big liters of these at Ulta and they last forever. I love the smell and I feel like they really help with smoothing and taming any sort of frizz in the summer! 

3. Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Cream - For days that I don't use the three day straight I love this glossing cream. I've used it for about 5 years now and will probably use it forever. It's perfect on days that I don't feel like blowdrying and straightening my hair - to make it look more polished. It also smells amazing and leaves my hair feeling super soft!

Blue, Yellow & Burlap Engagement Party

Last night I had the honor of hosting an engagement party for my sweet sister-in-law and her husband to be!

She wanted it to keep things simple, with yellow, blue, burlap and mason jars. We had a signature drink, all the fixin's of a cookout and lots of yummy desserts.

It was an amazing night and I can't wait to get to work on things for her bridal shower!! 

Trey's 2nd Birthday Party ~ Paul Frank Themed!

This year we decided to keep Trey's birthday party pretty low-key and have it at The Little Gym! We have been long time fans of our local LG, Trey has been attending classes there since he was 5 months old and I have met some of the BEST mom-friends you could ever ask for there! 

The party was broken up into two parts: play! and then cupcakes and snacks. And let me tell you, it FLEW by. Before I knew it - we were handing out favors and hugging and kissing left and right. But it was definitely FUN! And I didn't feel any stress besides just getting there. The crew at LG took care of everything. To the point where I felt weird like... um... I can help with that!

It was so awesome to be able to 110% focus on Trey and our friends and family that came! 

One of Trey's first "favorite things" was his sock monkey that he calls "chi-chi" and Paul Frank's Julius quickly became a favorite when one of the first sentences he said was "Look, mama! Mon-KEE!" and pointed to his Paul Frank shirt! 

So the theme for my sweet *little* one's birthday was born! I didn't want it to be too "theme-y" - which I may have failed at? So I tried to incorporate lots of primary colors too! 

Since the party was at 3pm we had very light snacks (chips, crackers, applesauce pouches for the kiddos), beverages and cupcakes. Nothing fancy - but perfect for a two-year old celebration! 

I still have more pictures to get from my bestie, but I wanted to go ahead and share some that my SIL took while everything was fresh in my mind!!

Other Little Details:

I threw this together one late, crafty night. It's just a beverage tub from Target with vinyl cut outs! 

For the goody bags I just bought plastic buckets at Party City and cut each kids name out with vinyl on the cricut. Inside I included stickers, bubbles, maracas (because we do "shakers" at the Little Gym), crayons, a Paul Frank Bracelet and a little bag of Yummy Earth lollipops! 

The Thank You notes and the file for the cupcake toppers (I had them printed at Office Max) came from Chloe Tate on Etsy (LOVE her!!!), the 2 beverage tub is also from Target as well as the dry erase Paul Frank boards that I used to make a banner!

I just took the stickers off of the bubbles, cut out vinyl circles on the cricut and threw a Paul Frank sticker on!

Wordless Wednesday

Weekend Recap: Toddler Yoga, Throwing Pennies & ICE CREAM!

This weekend FLEW by. As all good summer weekends do, no?

Our weekend kicked off early with a visit from this mama and one of Trey's besties, Greyson! We met up another mutual friend and her little one for a morning of toddler yoga.

Riiiiight. 

Totally sounds like an oxymoron. I know.

Trust me. I thought the same thing as you. I even texted this chica before class to say. "I really hope we don't get ourselves kicked out...."

Much to everyone's surprise the boys all did AWESOME. They were super well behaved, and loved trying out different poses. The teacher was fun, turned all of the poses into animals and really captured their attention. We will definitely be going again!!

After class we hit up a great park that's on the sand and had some girl talk, play time and just overall fun in the sun!

Later that evening I got to have dinner & fro-yo with our besties. J and I laughed about how sometimes we feel like Trey and Addie are on a date and we are all just tagging along. They crack me up how much they love each other!

Saturday morning we hung out, made breakfast, played and then since it was raining a little I decided to break out a fun pinterest-inspired activity. They are these weird jelly beads that you can buy at Michael's (I think?) but I stumbled upon some a dollar store inside one of our malls. They're good for textures, colors, fine motor skills, etc. Trey loved watching them grow and I think I'm going to find a plant to use with them and see if they really live up to their "Soil Replacement" claim.

Saturday night we went and ran some errands, had dinner at CPK and hung out at our town center. J.D. taught Trey how to throw pennies in the fountain. Each throw included a "whoa!!" or "cooool". So simple. But such a great time.

J.D. and I came home and watched some old Episodes of Breaking Bad in excitement of the next (and final) season premiere tonight. Did anyone else watch??

This morning we woke up, went and got our crack coffee, and headed to the park. As you can tell by looking at Trey - it was so muggy/humid/hot. 

Side-note: Why don't toddlers seem to care about the heat? I swear it could be a million degrees out and this kid would still want to play! 

To finish it off we headed to a friend's house for a cookout and some sprinkler fun. Trey plays so well with their daughters and a few of their friends came too. We all had an amazing time just sitting outside laughing and watching the little ones have the time of their lives.

Did you know today was national ice cream day - I had a random lady in Target tell me (don't ask, the crazies were out in full force today...) so I immediately scooped up some vanilla ice cream, cones and sprinkles to take with us!

It was basically your quintessential Summer night.

And it was perfect.

Party Prep ~ DIY: Waterproof Water Bottle Labels

I really shouldn't even be writing a DIY post about making these because they are SO EASY.

A while ago J.D. and I were in Target and had a convo that went like this:

Me: Look babe! Paul Frank Duct Tape! We need this for Trey's party!


J.D.: What are you going to do with that?


Me: I don't know..... Um.... SOMETHING


J.D.: No Lis, put it back...


Me: *Huff puff*

And ever since I thought to myself "oh I am GOING to find a way to use that darn tape"!

Fast forward a few weeks I was trying to figure out how to do water bottle labels for Trey's birthday, I knew I would want to laminate them because ice + paper labels on water bottles = ick! And I knew that the water needed to be ice cold for a party in August!!

DING DING DING!

Couldn't I just use the duct tape ON the bottles? Um yep.

So I went and got the tape (without J.D. thankyouverymuch) and went on the search for smooth water bottles. (OCD much?) You know bottles that weren't all bumpy where the label was going to be.

(And in case you were in walmart in the middle of the night last week and saw some rough looking crazy lady FEELING up water bottles... well. You should have said hi.) 

So I found these smaller Aquafina ones on sale this week at Target. I think that they will be perfect for   kids and adults alike.

I just removed the labels that come on the water and replaced with the duct tape! Easy peasy!!!

(Target has a good selection of different designs back by the home improvement area, and Michaels had a ton when I was there recently too!! )
